CHARACTER INFO

Character: Satoru Gojo
Canon: Jujutsu Kaisen, post-Chapter 236, plus six months of CRAU from Hotel Caelum.
Age: 29

Background Information: JJK wiki! In addition to his canon experiences, Gojo will also be arriving with about six months at a previous game, Hotel Caelum. The Hotel was a voluntary vacation, so initially, Gojo checked in while trapped in the Prison Realm, as a more ideal way to wait out the time it would take for his students and allies to presumably unseal him. Initially, he saw it simply as a way to have some fun and goof off, a place where he didn't have to take things as seriously as he does at home, though eventually, due to the amount of downtime he was able to spend with the other guests, he started to form attachments, eventually coming to terms with the reality that he would miss the hotel whenever he had to leave. Given the unique nature of his status back home, he was in no hurry to leave, until Kento Nanami and Yuji Itadori arrived, and he swiftly had to come to terms with the reality of the world he had left behind. Realizing he couldn't move forward in any sense until he had returned home to complete his unfinished business, he finally checked out of the hotel, only to be unsealed, challenge Sukuna to a fight, and be killed at his hands. Returning to the hotel after his defeat and death, Gojo had to come to terms what his life even means now; that's still a process that he's going through and it will take him some time to figure out what it really is that he wants now, when so much of his life has been defined by a world he can no longer return to. His guiding force in these tumultuous times is his girlfriend, Sumina Heartleaf, who he met at the hotel. In general, he's a little more open to forming new connections than he once was, slowly learning that it's not the end of the world if he lets people in to see who he is at his core. He still has a long ways to go, but he's a work in progress, deconstructing the broken parts of himself and building them back up, brick by brick.

Personality:
FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Brash, bombastic and egotistical, Satoru Gojo makes sure that upon first meeting him, he is not the sort of person one forgets. His reputation precedes him in jujutsu society, well-known for being a troublemaker who causes a stir anywhere he goes, but even to those who have never heard of him, he commands a presence that's difficult to look away from: captivating, but kind of in the same way a car crash is. As the strongest living sorcerer, Gojo has always had all eyes on him. Since the moment of his birth, there have been hits placed upon his head, and due to his prodigious power, he is the man at the center of everything. His sense of pride and hubris aren't built upon nothing, after all; he is every bit as powerful and pivotal as he believes himself to be, and he is quick to demonstrate that to anyone who doubts him.

Given the chaotic nature of his life, his commanding presence is a way for him to control the perception of himself, and give others exactly what they expect from him, based off of his reputation. There is a softer side to him, but it is seldom seen, and never by others he has just met. He is a touch gentler with children and teens, especially ones who are misguided and struggling in their own right. His teenage years were pivotal for his own path in life, and while his methods may be questionable, ultimately he wants to be a guiding force for the younger generation. Maybe not in the most traditional or conventional way, but his heart is in the right place. It just sure is polarizing!

MOTIVATIONS: Ultimately, Gojo's goal is to break down the existing structure of jujutsu society and rebuild it from the ground up, with the assistance of his students. This is his entire reason for teaching; even though it's not the sort of vocation that he has the typical temperament for, he sees it as the best way available to him to gain allies and further his own endgame. Jujutsu society is extremely traditional and rigid, pressuring children to become soldiers and casting out those without sorcery talents, setting young sorcerers up just to die at the hands of cursed spirits. Gojo has seen firsthand just what this can do to a person, as he watched his best friend, Suguru Geto, transformed from a kind and sympathetic soul to someone who saw the utter eradication of all non-sorcerers as the only way to stop sorcerers from suffering unnecessary deaths. Geto was Gojo's moral compass in his youth, and is the only reason that Gojo didn't go down a darker path himself. He stayed his hand when it mattered most, only to defect himself, and Gojo has never forgiven himself for his failure to save the person who mattered most to him before it was too late.

That said, Gojo also loves jujutsu, just for the sake of it. He loves to fight, in particular when it pushes him to his limits. There's nothing he enjoys quite like flexing his jujutsu and seeing what he's really made of when challenged by a powerful enemy. While this doesn't completely rob him of his sense of empathy and morality in battle, he is willing to weigh the benefits and risks and cost of human life if it means defeating a powerful curse. He is not heroic in the sense that the loss of any life affects him; ultimately, he is decisive and calculative, and thrives in the heat of battle. Nanami in particular notes just how much Gojo enjoys the carnage of a worthwhile clash, and as long as he is regarded as the Strongest, it is essentially what he lives for.

FLAWS: Gojo has no shortage of flaws, but in a literal sense, his connection with Geto is his greatest weakness. The mere intimation that his friend could still be alive enough to render him fully immobile. However, while this may be his greatest weakness in a fight, it isn't his only physical weakness; due to the sheer scale of his powers, Gojo can really only flex his full strength in a fight when he's on his own. He is unable to rely on others to complement his approach to battle, which for all his cleverness and quick thinking, leaves him with blind spots.

Parallel with his inability to fight alongside others effectively in battle, one of Gojo's greatest emotional weaknesses is his difficulty in forming strong connections with others. There's no question that he feels a bond with his students and even considers some fellow sorcerers like Nanami as friends, but he has never found another bond quite like the one he had with Geto and has lived in the shadow of that betrayal ever since. To compensate for his pervasive loneliness, Gojo often puts up a front with his exuberant, brassy personality, to shape the way that others perceive him that misdirects them from the isolation within. His struggle to connect is every bit a problem of his own making as it is a byproduct of his own strength and reputation.

This is far from his only weakness as a person, as Gojo has many character flaws β€” as mentioned, he is unapologetically egotistical, stemming from his status as the strongest living sorcerer, since his birth touted as a force that changed the very balance of the world itself. Since his strength is unapproachable, he can pretty much get away with anything that he wants, so he doesn't think twice about speaking his mind or causing mischief. Even while working at Jujutsu Tech, he is often causing grief for Principal Yaga, who is left to clean up the messes that he makes, and he directly antagonizes the principal of the Kyoto branch. This behavior also causes many to see him as childish, though some of these tendencies are also likely a consequence of his upbringing, and his insistence on his students remembering that they themselves are just kids. He is usually taking things more seriously than he lets on, but that perception still tends to rub others the wrong way. Even the students are split on how they view him; some appreciate his light-heartedness and candor, while others think him downright idiotic. To be certain, his personality is polarizing.

He can also be very impatient and stubborn, unwilling to consider other viewpoints easily because he is just so certain of himself that it takes a great deal to change his mind about something important. He operates by his own rules and time tables, and expects others to go along with his whims, even when they're particularly obnoxious. Nanami is unable to respect him for his behavior, despite knowing Gojo as well as almost anyone, and Ijichi is outright distressed whenever he has to work with him, always expecting something bad to happen to him as a result.

Abilities & Inventory: Recognized broadly as the strongest living sorcerer, Gojo is a veritable well of cursed energy and as such, is able to apply it in many different ways:
β˜… Six Eyes: Allows Gojo to use his Limitless technique with refined precision and assists with the efficient use of his cursed energy. Also allows him to perceive things in measures such as cursed energy, velocity, and even mass.
β˜… Limitless Cursed Technique: The ability to warp and manipulate space, allowing Satoru to both teleport over great distances, but also increase the space between himself and an opponent to a distance so vast that he is virtually untouchable.
β˜… Cursed Technique Lapse: Blue: The default flow of energy through Gojo's cursed technique, Blue is the power to attract, drawing the space between objects together and compress distances.
β˜… Cursed Technique Reversal: Red: The reversal of the above, Red is the power to repel, forcing space and matter apart in a manner that often acts like an explosion.
β˜… Hollow Technique: Purple: The combination of his red and blue techniques, Hollow Purple creates a form of imaginary mass that annihilates any form of matter in its path.
β˜… Domain Expansion: Unlimited Void: A domain of metaphysical energy controlled entirely by Gojo, overloading his opponents with all the raw knowledge and stimuli in the universe to essentially break their brain.
β˜… Reverse Cursed Technique: By reversing the flow of cursed energy and turning it positive, Gojo can use this technique to heal himself of injuries and even regrow severed limbs.

As Gojo is recognized as the strongest, he'll be getting a few nerfs:
β˜… The extent of his cursed energy will much more limited than what he is typically used to, meaning he will have to use his technique more sparingly. If we're talking in terms of an MP bar in an RPG, it's like 20% of what it usually is.
β˜… He is unable to use Hollow Purple entirely. No more black holes for him!
β˜… His Domain Expansion will take on an imperfect, incomplete state, meaning he will not gain total control over anyone caught in it, and rather than its typical brain-breaking bullshit, it's more like a bad migraine attack, might make someone catatonic for a short period at worst.
β˜… Generally speaking, due to the limit on his cursed energy, he'll also need to limit his output on his technique in turn, and just be more mindful about consumption of cursed energy. He also won't be able to teleport around as frequently.

If he's still too overpowered for the setting, let me know!

Inventory-wise, he has the clothes on his back and a pair of sunglasses.

ARMADA SELECTION

Corsair! Gojo is a disruptor, an agent of chaos in his own right, both in his mischievous and reckless nature, but also in his overall goals and mission as a sorcerer. His ultimate objective is to tear down the existing structure of jujutsu society and rebuild it from the ground up with his students; at his core, he is a revolutionary, an unpredictable man that carves his own path. This fits in well with the guiding ideology of the Corsairs.
